How to make passive income with Honeygain

Honeygain network is used by researchers from e-commerce, advertising, and web intelligence companies.

These companies extract insights from the web to enable market research, ad-fraud prevention, brand protection, pricing intelligence, travel fare aggregation, and SEO monitoring services.

Honeygain application is very easy to install and setup on all compatible platforms, which are Windows, Android, and macOS.

Signup and login to the app and let it run in background. It is extremely safe as no one has access to your computer.

It will start capturing the bandwidth from your internet data. For example if you have 2 GB data per day and you are only using 1GB, Honeygain will use remaining 1GB (depending on speed) and add credit to your account.

You can install this app in multiple devices.

By selling up to 5GB of data per day with daily content delivery in total, you can potentially profit up to $17 by the end of each month!

Content Delivery Network (CDN)

Besides sharing your unused bandwidth, Honeygain's latest feature allows users to share their internet connection for bandwidth-intensive content. Such as images, videos, audio, heavy websites, etc.

Since Content Delivery utilises users' network connectivity for bandwidth-intensive content, it requires stable network connectivity. Content Delivery is available on Windows and macOS devices running the latest version of Honeygain.

In order to be able to opt-in for the Content Delivery, your device will also need to be connected to the network with a compatible IP Usage Type.

For Content Delivery (if available in your region):

You will earn 10 credits for every hour Content Delivery is Active and running (not ‘In Queue’).

What is Honeygain?

Honeygain, an IT software company is founded in 2018. It developed a crowdsourced residential proxy network, an alternative to Virtual Private Network. (VPN)

The team is experienced in this niche industry and found a gap to fill. It want to create value for end-users and tackle the transparency issues in the proxy industry.

Leveraging on their expertise, they came up a simple mix of onboarding people globally, explaining what their network connection is used for and compensating them for participating.

Merely 2 years after inauguration of Honeygain, it garnered much interests and experienced exponential growing audiences. Having moved so many people Honeygain aims to be the best passive income source in the market.

What is a proxy server

A proxy server acts as a gateway between you and the internet. It’s an intermediary server separating end users from the websites they browse.

How does a proxy server operate

Every computer on the internet needs to have a unique Internet Protocol (IP) Address. Think of this IP address as your computer’s street address.

Just as the post office knows to deliver your mail to your street address, the internet knows how to send the correct data to the correct computer by the IP address.

A proxy server has its own IP address that your computer knows.

When you send a web request, your request goes to the proxy server first. The proxy server then makes your web request on your behalf, collects the response from the web server, and forwards you the web page data so you can see the page in your browser.

When the proxy server forwards your web requests, it can make changes to the data you send and still get you the information that you expect to see.

A proxy server can change your IP address, so the web server doesn’t know exactly where you are in the world. It can encrypt your data, so your data is unreadable in transit. And lastly, a proxy server can block access to certain web pages, based on IP address.

Pros of using a proxy server

1. Control internet usage of employees and children: Organisations and parents set up proxy servers to control and monitor how their employees or kids use the internet.

To prevent cyber-loafing, organisations can configure the proxy server to deny access to specific sites ie, social media/entertainment/gaming sites. It will instead redirect you with a nice note asking you to refrain from looking at said sites on the company network.

They can also log all web requests and monitor your internet usage.

2. Bandwidth savings and improved speeds: Organisations can improve overall network performance with good proxy server. Proxy servers can cache (save a copy of the website locally) popular websites.

This means that when hundreds of people hit www.amazon.com at the same time from the same proxy server, the proxy server only sends one request to amazon.com. This saves bandwidth for the company and improves the network performance.

3. Privacy benefits: Individuals and organisations can use proxy servers to browse the internet more privately. Some proxy servers will change the IP address and other identifying information the web request contains.

This means the destination server doesn’t know who actually made the original request, which helps keeps your personal information and browsing habits more private.

4. Improved security: In addition to privacy proxy servers provide additional security. You can configure your proxy server to encrypt your web requests to keep prying eyes from reading your transactions. You can also prevent known malware sites from any access through the proxy server.

5. Get access to blocked resources: Proxy servers allow users to circumvent content restrictions imposed by companies or governments. For example, some sites are blacked out online due to geo-restrictions.

You can log into a proxy server from another location to access the site. The proxy server makes it look like you are in California, when you actually live in Singapore

Honeygain's edge

Several governments around the world closely monitor and restrict access to the internet, and proxy servers offer their citizens access to an uncensored internet.

However, companies and government would gather the IP addresses of most commercial VPN and proxy servers providers.

Hence, the site such as Netflix may detect VPN and block you from accessing some contents.

Honeygain do not run their own VPN or Proxy servers in Data centres with known IP addresses. It leverages on the masses IP address as proxy servers.

Thus, services that want to prevent proxy servers are unable to do so since the IP address is not from Data Centers. It is from a regular IP address people have at home.

Hence, this is why Honeygain has such a huge advantage in the proxy industry.

Singapore context

How much you make on Honeygain is dependent on various factors such as location, demand and supply.

If you stay in Singapore, the demand for proxy servers may not be as high as that of the United States. Hence, the geographical location and country size plays a part.

In addition, if many people are using Honeygain to offer their unused data, this leads to a high supply in a particular country. This will result in lower earnings as traffic will be split among more people.

Thus, if you choose to sign up Honeygain in Singapore, you may face low demand and high supply which results in lower earnings. However, it is comforting to know besides regular foreign users, conglomerates are keen on tapping our unused data for research purposes.

Closing thoughts on earning $17/month on honeygain

While it sounds nice and Honeygain seems to be legitimate, the results were poor.

We have tested it ourselves and earned a meagre $0.07 in a day.

Earning  $17/m seems unlikely.

While it is REAL PASSIVE INCOME, deep down we were still concerned with security.

The risk and reward ratio is not enticing for us and we couldn't find any industry leaders backing it up.

Maybe it is still in the very early stages and things may mature a bit more in a year.

If we have new findings, we'd share with you. Meanwhile, there are other ways for passive income.
